10.30.01 :: 20:24
I've decided to give this blogger thing a try, mostly because I tend to have many adventures
during the day that might make good reading. So, here's the basic introduction type post.
Hi, I'm Amanda, I'm a tech at a local ISP. The people I encounter there (and their
misconceptions about computers) are a source of both amusement and frustration for me. My
passion besides computers are video games and fanfics. Expect to see a lot on these 3
subjects since they make up about 80-90% of my life.
I can't say much for today, but tomorrow promises to be an interesting day. I'm sure I'll
have some thoughts on it all by the end of the day.
10.31.01 :: 22:31
As I expected, today was a rollercoaster of emotions. The day began with the laying off
of some of my co-workers. My boss had warned them yesterday and today was their last day.
There was a glum atmosphere that hung over the office most of the day. It didn't help that
we were enduring a DSL outage at the same time and having to field a lot of calls because of
it. Stupid Qwest, always making things more difficult than they need to be...
I dressed up as a blanket today. Yes, that was my costume and I rather enjoyed it. At
least I was warm at work ^_^
After work I picked up my dad's birthday cake. I'd specially ordered it from the bakery
because the premade ones have fruit filling and my dad hates it. They'd spelt his name wrong
on the cake. ^^; Fortunately they were able to fix it and all was good. My dad, mom and I
went to a classy restaurant for dinner. Nice place, but I really don't care for their food.
On the way back I saw more Christmas lights already hung and flickering than I'm comfortable
with. C'mon people! It's still *OCTOBER*. Way, way, WAY too early for Christmas lights, or
Christmas anything in my opinion. At least let the leaves fall off the trees before you string
up your lights and set out your plastic snowmen!
Once we were back home I decided on a whim to go trick o' treating. I haven't been since I
was a kid. I put on my high school letterman jacket and an alien mask and walked over to the
neighbors. (It's important to note that I live in a semi-rural area, there are no sidewalks,
streetlights, or many children for that matter). I went on the pretense of "making sure that
our neighbors had at least 1 trick o' treater this year". The first neighbor gave me a handful
of Hershey's kisses. The second gave me two handfuls of Hershey's minis. The third and fourth
were "stingy" by those standards by only giving me a couple mini candy bars. I didn't get a
single 'bad' piece of candy (you know, the cheap bulk stuff that you'd just as soon trade away).
All of it was quality Hershey's goodness :D
Dad opened up his birthday gifts after I was done hitting up the neighbors for candy. Then
mom left and dad and I watched the D'backs blow a perfectly good World Series win! Don't
get me wrong, I'm not a D'backs fan, I simply want to see the ones who slapped down the Oakland
A's get whapped themselves >=)
