Okay, to make a long story short, I'm a single bean living in a 4-bedroom house that is more like the family's storage shed than a home. In other words, there is *a lot* of stuff around here that I just sort of live around. In fact, during the winter I literally live in one room and turn off the heat to the rest of the house to keep the heating bill down. And the only reason I go into the master bedroom is because the only working shower is off of that bedroom.
The "only working shower" comment should also give you a hint that this house is in need of some serious home improvement. I've been doing what I can as I can, but the truth is I'm incredibly lazy. I'm also not very skilled at the domestic diva bit; completely lacking any real sense of style. (I'm functional, not stylish).
Well, since I have all this space and no one to stop me I've always wanted one of the bedrooms to be turned into a workroom. This is a very practical want; I need a place where I can work on computers and persue my hobby of model building. (I haven't worked on that for, like, a year because I didn't have a place to do it).
My aunt Ginny knew of my long standing desire and decided last weekend that It Was Time. I sweet talked Jeffy into coming over to help lift heavy stuff and packed a lot of crap into boxes before Saturday. Ginny showed up bright and early with her sister to help out. And of course Jeffy and I were sitting on the porch in our pajamas tending to the pets ^^; Not a great way to greet people.
Anyhow, we didn't start taking pictures until this morning, but imagine the biggest mess you can and there you have it. We tackled the master bedroom first 'cause we needed to clear out a place to put the stuff from the bedroom that's going to become my new bedroom (it was my brother's). I'm amazed by how quickly that was done and how nicely everything compacted. After that we moved stuff from one room to another. That included moving a pinball machine and taking down the bunkbeds. Here is an after picture of all the stuff in the master bedroom.
We made plans for tomorrow and Ginny left. Jeffy and I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean as a break and then came back to take down wallpaper. We're going to repaint all the walls in my new bedroom off-white and the wallpaper had to go. So here, are a bunch of pictures from that. Now I'm dog tired and probably not making much sense in my desciptions, but at least there are pictures!
Check back Sunday for our (mis)adventures in painting!
